Why You May Be Struggling With Consistent Movement/Excercise

Just as much as some women struggle with over-exercise, I’ve also seen my share of clients struggle to implement any kind of joyful movement on a consistent basis

I probably don’t need to mention the multiple benefits of consistently moving our bodies. If we know this so well, why do so many of us struggle with making movement a regular part of our lives?

I believe having an all-or-nothing mentality when it comes to movement is at the centre of it. Also, if you experienced injuries or severe pain due to exercising beyond your body’s edge.

However, the majority of women who tell me they have “blocks” with exercise or they just can’t understand why they can’t get off the couch and go for a walk have at some point developed a strong association between exercise/movement and dieting/wanting to shrink their bodies.

This deep buried belief often sabotages our efforts to motivate ourselves to do something that in fact is as natural and healthy for us as breathing.

Here’s my tip: If this is something you struggle with, I encourage you to set different intentions around movement. Give yourself the freedom and permission to head out without the fitbit, without a goal to do these many steps or minutes, or to burn off last night’s meal and instead move your body in ways that feel enjoyable and notice what happens. Happy moving :)
